Email communication :: Dear Friend,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have stuck with our brothers and sisters back home in Kenya, during their most trying moments. For the last two months, many have been victims of violence, fear, and property destruction. Your relentless prayers, and selfless support through monetary and clothing donations, continue to make a difference in the internally displaced persons' lives across many centers countrywide.
To that end, and through your generosity, I am happy to report that we have managed to collect a 20-foot (1100 Cubic feet) container worth of clothing, shoes, and some feminine sanitary items.
We also recognize with great appreciation the on-going efforts to end the violence and ensure that peace prevails among all Kenyans.
In the past few weeks, the guys on the CC line, together with many other individuals both here and nationwide, have been working hard on finding ways to ship this container load of clothing, shoes and feminine snitary items, to Kenya. We have established contact with a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Kenya, and they have agreed to receive as the consognees of the container, and eventually on the distribution to our displaced brothers and sisters. However, we still need funds to cover the shipping costs of the container.
To that end, we humbly solicit your financial assistance to fulfill this noble goal. A bank account with Wachovia Bank has been established for this purpose, and I am counting on you to make this effort a success.

Kenyan Red Cross/International Committee of the Red Cross Tracing Capabilities
Due to the large number of displaced people in Kenya following the election violence, the Kenyan Red Cross with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross has set up tracing systems to help reconnect families that have lost contact.
Current Actions
The Kenyan Red Cross, with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross has deployed tracing teams to the affected areas. Tracing teams are able to assist families that have lost contact with immediate family in Kenya in two ways:
***First Families need to try and contact their relatives using the following hotline numbers:

| Nairobi area |
011-254-720-550-581 |
| Nakuru area |
011-254-724-137-097 |
If families in the United States have not received a response using the hotline numbers within 1 week they can:
***Second Families can send an International Disaster Welfare Inquiry, IF they meet ALL of the following conditions
- Relatives in the US are trying to contact IMMEDIATE family:
- Parents
- Siblings
- Children
- Spouses/fiancés
- Grandparents
- Legal guardians
- Relatives in the US were in regular contact with the family member living in the affected areas before the violence began in Dec 2007
- The family member they are trying to contact is not a US resident
- If they are a US citizen they need to contact the US Department of State 1-888-407-4747
- The inquirer has already tried to contact the sought person by all normal means
If a family member living in the US meets all of this criteria above they should contact their local American Red Cross office (it can be found at < http://www.redcross.org/ > and entering your zip code).
